قرر مجلس الشيوخ الأمريكي، اليوم الثلاثاء، التصديق على تعيين كيفن وارش رئيساً لمجلس الاحتياطي الفيدرالي. مجلس الشيوخ ويمنح تصويت مجلس الشيوخ، الذي جاء بنتيجة 51 صوتاً مقابل 45، وارش ولاية تمتد 14 عاماً في مجلس إدارة البنك المركزي. وجاء إقرار تعيين وارش في وقت يواصل فيه الرئيس دونالد ترامب الضغط على الاحتياطي الفيدرالي لخفض أسعار الفائدة، لكن ذلك قد يصبح أكثر صعوبة مع تسارع التضخم في أبريل، لا سيما أسعار الوقود والغذاء والإيجارات. وأصبح إقرار تعيين وارش في المجلس شبه مضمون بعدما رفع السيناتور الجمهوري عن ولاية نورث كارولاينا، توم تيليس، اعتراضه على المصادقة على تعيينات الاحتياطي الفيدرالي. وجاء تحرك تيليس بعد إعلان وزارة العدل إنهاء تحقيق جنائي يتعلق بجيروم باول بشأن تجاوزات في تكاليف تجديد مقر الاحتياطي الفيدرالي. وعارض معظم الديمقراطيين تعيين وارش بسبب مخاوف من أنه لن يحافظ على استقلالية البنك المركزي في السياسة النقدية. كما لا يزال الديمقراطيون غير راضين عن مساعي ترمب لإقالة محافظة الاحتياطي الفيدرالي ليزا كوك، والتي اعتبروها أيضاً جزءاً من حملة ترمب لترهيب أعضاء مجلس إدارة البنك المركزي.Sugar Prices Fall as Brazil Ramps Up Sugar Production
