وقعت مصر وقطر عقد شراكة استثمارية لتنمية منطقة علم الروم بمحافظة مطروح، بتكلفة استثمارية تبلغ 29.7 مليار دولار، في واحدة من أكبر الصفقات الاستثمارية بين البلدين خلال السنوات الأخيرة. تفاصيل الاتفاق يشمل الاتفاق توقيع شركة الديار القطرية عقدًا مع هيئة المجتمعات العمرانية الجديدة لتطوير منطقة علم الروم على ساحل البحر المتوسط. وتقوم الشركة بسداد 3.5 مليار دولار قيمةً للأرض، إضافة إلى استثمار عيني بقيمة 26.2 مليار دولار لتنفيذ المشروع. عوائد المشروع والشراكة الاستراتيجية من المتوقع أن يحقق المشروع إيرادات سنوية لا تقل عن 1.8 مليار دولار، كما نص الاتفاق على تخصيص 15% من أرباح المشروع لصالح هيئة المجتمعات العمرانية الجديدة في مصر، بما يعزز العوائد الاستثمارية ويؤكد أهمية التعاون الاستراتيجي بين الجانبين المصري والقطري.
