كشفت وكالة “رويترز”، نقلًا عن مصادر مطلعة، أن شركة المدفوعات “سترايب” وشركة “أدفنت” للاستثمار المباشر تقدمتا بعرض مشترك للاستحواذ على شركة “باي بال” مقابل أكثر من 53 مليار دولار. عرض للاستحواذ على «باي بال» وأفاد أحد المصادر بأن العرض يتضمن شراء أسهم “باي بال” بسعر 60.50 دولارًا للسهم، بما يمثل علاوة سعرية تبلغ نحو 28% مقارنة بسعر إغلاق السهم في جلسة أمس. تراجع القيمة السوقية وتأسست شركة “باي بال” في أواخر التسعينيات، وكانت من أوائل الشركات العاملة في مجال المدفوعات الرقمية. إلا أنها واجهت منافسة متزايدة مع توسع استخدام وسائل الدفع البديلة، وارتفاع الحصة السوقية لمنافسين مثل Apple Pay وGoogle Pay. وبلغت القيمة السوقية لـ”باي بال” ذروتها عند نحو 360 مليار دولار في عام 2021، قبل أن تتراجع إلى نحو 36 مليار دولار خلال العام الجاري.
