أصدر الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترامب قرارًا بعزل ليزا كوك عضو مجلس محافظي مجلس الاحتياطي الفيدرالي، بدعوى وجود مخالفات تتعلق بالحصول على قروض عقارية. اتهامات بالاحتيال العقاري ترامب أوضح في رسالة عبر منصته “تروث سوشال” أوردتها شبكة سي إن إن أن قرار العزل جاء بعد اتهامات وجهها بيل بولتي، المعيّن من قبله للإشراف على شركتي الرهن العقاري “فاني ماي” و”فريدي ماك”. ووفق الاتهامات، فإن كوك سجّلت في عام 2021 محلّي إقامة أساسيين، أحدهما في ميشيجان والآخر في أتلانتا، للاستفادة من شروط أفضل للرهن العقاري، حيث تكون معدلات الفائدة أعلى عادةً على المنازل الثانية أو المخصصة للإيجار. ترامب أكد أن لديه السلطة الدستورية لإقالة كوك، متوقعًا أن يثير القرار نزاعًا قضائيًا قد يمنحها فرصة للبقاء في منصبها مؤقتًا إلى حين الفصل في القضية. رد ليزا كوك في المقابل، رفضت ليزا كوك قرار ترامب وأكدت أنه لا يملك صلاحية قانونية لإقالتها من منصبها. وقالت في بيان إن الزعم بوجود “سبب وجيه” لإقالتها غير صحيح، معلنة أنها لن تستقيل وستواصل أداء مهامها لدعم الاقتصاد الأمريكي كما تفعل منذ عام 2022.
