وافق مجلس جامعة الدول العربية على ترشيح نبيل فهمي أمينًا عامًا لجامعة الدول العربية خلفًا لـ أحمد أبو الغيط. واعتمد المندوبون الدائمون مشروع جدول أعمال الدورة الوزارية، والذي تضمن بندين رئيسيين، هما استهداف سيادة وسلامة أراضي الدول العربية التي تتعرض لهجمات إيرانية، إلى جانب ترشيح نبيل فهمي لشغل منصب الأمين العام لجامعة الدول العربية اعتبارًا من أول يوليو 2026. وشغل نبيل فهمي منصب وزير الخارجية المصري خلال الفترة من يونيو 2013 إلى يوليو 2014، كما عمل سفيرًا لمصر لدى الولايات المتحدة خلال الفترة من 1999 إلى 2008، وسفيرًا في اليابان من 1997 إلى 1999. ويُذكر أن والده إسماعيل فهمي شغل منصب وزير الخارجية في عهد أنور السادات خلال الفترة من 1973 إلى 1977.U.S. envoys Witkoff and Kushner are in Moscow in a new push for peace between Russia and Ukraine
