أرسل الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترامب يوم الأربعاء ترشيح الحاكم السابق للاحتياطي الفيدرالي كيفين وورش إلى مجلس الشيوخ لتولي منصب رئيس بنك الاحتياطي الفيدرالي، في خطوة يُتوقع أن تثير جدلاً واسعًا. وتُعد الخطوة التالية في عملية التعيين عقد جلسة استماع بلجنة البنوك بمجلس الشيوخ قبل التصويت على تثبيته رسميًا. وكان نيل كاشكاري، رئيس بنك الاحتياطي الفيدرالي في مينيابوليس، قد صرح لوكالة بلومبرج بأن استمرار التضخم الرئيسي لفترة طويلة بعد خمس سنوات من التضخم المرتفع يتطلب اهتمامًا بالغًا، مؤكدًا ضرورة الاستعداد للصدمات المحتملة التي قد تؤثر على الاقتصاد العالمي. وتشير أحدث توقعات الاحتياطي الفيدرالي الاقتصادية الصادرة في ديسمبر الماضي إلى خفض واحد فقط لسعر الفائدة في عام 2026، لكن المستثمرين يتوقعون أن يسعى وورش إلى المزيد من التخفيضات إذا صادق مجلس الشيوخ على تعيينه خلفًا للرئيس جيروم باول عند انتهاء ولايته في مايو المقبل.
